Seed of Hope | Christy Norrell | Ewing Sarcoma Survivor
"Twenty years ago, when I was 9 years old, I broke my leg. That's when they discovered I had bone cancer known as Ewing sarcoma. I had chemo and a bone transplant.
I had to have a hip replacement in 2001 because the top part of my bone transplant wasn't mending like it should.
For the last several years, I've been making the two-hour trip from Hamburg to Little Rock once or twice a year for checkups, but today I was released from treatment.
Dr. Richard Nicholas has been my doctor for the whole 20 years of my treatment. He was a wonderful doctor and taken good care of me.
Having cancer as a child caused me to have a brighter outlook on life and helped me understand a lot of things I might not have understood otherwise. It definitely made me grow up faster โ too fast my mom always says."
