Ribbon Cutting for Faris D. Virani Ewing Sarcoma Center at Texas Children's Cancer Center
Ewing sarcoma is the second most common bone tumor in children. As one of the most challenging forms of cancer to treat, these tumors often originate in large bones such as the hip, shin, chest and arm bones. Approximately 250 new cases of this type of tumor are diagnosed in the United States per year.
On February 13, 2014, the Faris D. Virani Ewing Sarcoma Center at Texas Children's Hospital was officially established by Dr. Asha and Mr. Farid Virani in honor of their son Faris' battle with Ewing sarcoma. The Faris D. Virani Ewing Sarcoma Center performs state-of-the-art basic, translational and clinical research in order to be able to provide transformative and effective treatment approaches for the care and management of all patients diagnosed with Ewing sarcoma.
