A colostomy is a surgical operation that results in the formation of a stoma. The opening creates a passage from the large intestine to the outside of your body. This allows solid stool and gas to escape the body through the stoma instead of the rectum. The waste is collected in a pouch worn on the outside of the body. It is possible to get either a temporary or permanent colostomy.

My Approach:
I firmly believe in tailoring the treatment of my patients as per their needs without compromising on the outcomes. The needs of a young lady with breast cancer and no financial constraints are likely to be very different from the needs of an elderly lady coming from a remote village. To understand the needs of the patients we have to have a frank and open-hearted discussion with them. I believe that advanced technology like robotic surgery should be used in appropriate cases because when it is used indiscreetly it can cause more harm than good.
