New Procedure Offers Hope to Treat Advanced Abdominal Cancer

Hyperthermic intraperitoneal chemotherapy, or HIPEC, is used in tandem with surgery to treat a subset of patients suffering from abdominal cancers such as colorectal, appendix, peritoneal mesothelioma (cancer of the abdominal lining) and pseudomyxoma peritonei (a rare cancer that starts in the appendix) cancer.
