My Story - Oral Cancer, Dry Mouth Relief
Relief for Dry Mouth for Oral Cancer Patients
This is a story told by Garry Williams, who experienced dry mouth syndrome due to mouth cancer. He has some advice for you.
Smoking is a common cause of Oral Cancer, also known as head and neck cancer. Also, drinking alcohol along with using tobacco will greatly increase your risk of getting this disease. There can be other causes such as HPV virus. If you suspect oral cancer symptoms, please see your doctor right away. This disease if often curable if detected early enough. Unfortunately, it often is not detected as early as it should be, as severe symptoms may arise only too late.
If you do get oral cancer, then there are a few different kinds of treatments which may be advanced by your medical professionals. One is radiation therapy, and the other is chemotherapy. Sometimes these two methods are used in conjunction. Also, of course, there is surgery which is the third form of treatment. Luckily advances in medical procedures have made invasive surgery less common than it once was. All of this will depend upon the specifics of your own particular cancer.
Both during and after cancer treatment, the saliva glands can be adversely effected. This results in reduced saliva which causes Dry Mouth Syndrome. This can be a very annoying condition, and it can also result in dental problems. If you do get dry mouth, then please read the following website for more information on the subject.
