MedStar Health Treats Rare Male Breast Cancer
We often think of breast cancer as a disease affecting women, but men need to be aware of the signs and symptoms as well. When Michael Lyston started noticing pain, itching, and burning in his left nipple, he thought it would clear on its own. He eventually saw a dermatologist, where he was prescribed a cream that didn't help. He sought a second opinion, and the doctor found a lump and sent him to get a mammogram. Michael was later diagnosed with breast cancer. Dr. Shweta Kurian, medical oncologist and hematologist for MedStar Health, explains how her care team treated this unique case.
