Amy was diagnosed with 3B colorectal cancer at 34. She now lives with a colostomy bag. The ostomy bag is a plastic bag that collects fecal matter from the digestive tract through an opening in the stomach wall called a stoma. The bag attaches to the stoma after a colostomy operation.

In this conversation, she shares her experience of undergoing stomach surgery, learning to live with an ostomy bag and finding her “new normal” after cancer.

The interview has only been edited for clarity.
