With chromoendoscopy, we could exactly define the border of the lesion and differentiate it from other lesions such as papillomatosis by analyzing the superficial architecture of the tumor during surgery. We observed a disorganization of the surface without grooves, granularity, prominent capillaries surrounding the lesion, mixed erythroplakic/leukoplakic areas and disorganization of the capillary pattern, all that which led us to the in vivo histological presumption of dysplasia or malignancy. This method allows the recognition of suspected malignancies. Indigo
carmine provides excellent visualization of mucosal abnormalities and subepithelial capillaries.
