Type 8 human herpes virus (HHV-8, or sometimes called the herpes virus that causes Kaposi's sarcoma, KSHV) is a type of herpes virus from the gammaherpesvirinae subfamily that attacks humans. This virus causes Kaposi's sarcoma, cancer that occurs in AIDS patients, and also Castleman's disease.
Kaposi's sarcoma is a rare type of cancer that arises due to infection with the human herpesvirus 8 (HHV8). This virus attacks cells that line the channels and lymph nodes and / or blood vessels.
