Emma Hazelwood, MSc, University of Bristol, Bristol, UK, discusses the molecular mediators of the relationship between body mass index (BMI) and endometrial cancer risk. A Mendelian randomization analysis was carried out, which analyzed germline genetic variants to assess causal relationships. 14 potential mediators were identified, with fasting insulin, bioavailable testosterone, and sex hormone binding globulin (SHBG) being factors that mediated the link between BMI and endometrial cancer the most. This interview took place at the National Cancer Research Institute (NCRI) Festival 2021.
