Robotic surgery to treat head and neck cancers has given UAB Medicine patients more options for the treatment of cancer. Most commonly used to treat tumors of the oropharynx, hypopharynx, larynx and voice box, the use of robotic-assisted means smaller incisions, less pain and faster recovery. Recently, robotic-assisted surgery is now being used to treat tumors of the thyroid as well as treatment of sleep apnea.
