Germ cell tumor (GCT) is a Neoplasm derived from Germ Cells 
A germ cell gives rise to gametes originate in the Primitive streak and develops gonads 

Germ-cell tumors can be cancerous or benign inside the gonads (ovary, Testis) GCTs that originate outside the gonads may be birth defects resulting from errors during the development of the embryo.
Treatment
Women with benign GCTs such as mature teratomas (dermoid cysts) are cured by ovarian cystectomy or oophorectomy

malignant GCTs have the same staging surgery that is done for Epithelial ovarian cancer
 
Patients with germ-cell cancer often need to be treated with combination Chemotherapy for at least three cycles, Bleomycin Etoposide Cisplatin BEP
immunotherapy, hormonal therapy, and kinase inhibitors for tumors that do not respond to chemotherapy
