Witnessing someone go through the horrors of terminal cancer is one of the most difficult things that anyone can endure.
Farrah Fawcett passed away on June, 25, 2009. The former Charlie Angels star with the signature feathery locks had battled anal cancer for three years before taking her last breath at Saint John's Health Center in Santa Monica, California. She was 62 years old. Fawcett spent her whole life in the spotlight right down to the end. Her cancer fight was highly publicized and documented per her request in the film Farrah's Story which was directed by her good friend Alana Stewart.

She was diagnosed anal cancer 2006. Anal cancer is relatively rare, effecting just around 8,300 Americans each year. When it is found early, anal cancer is highly treatable. The overall five-year survival rate following diagnosis is around 67%.
Sadly, Fawcett's cancer had already advanced significantly by the time it was discovered so her treatment plan had to be fairly intensive. Just five months after her initial diagnosis, her doctors even declared her to be cancer-free. This was great news!
Unfortunately that celebration only lasted for a few short months, because after visiting her doctor for a routine follow-up examination, they discovered a malignant polyp indicating that her cancer had once again returned. After receiving experimental treatments in Europe, she came back to the states in 2009. Shortly after her return, she passed away surrounded by her friends and family.
