Cervical cancer is the 3rd most commonest cancer in Malaysia. Infection with the HPV- high risk types, a virus transmitted via sexual intercourse is known to be the main cause for this cancer. ๐Ÿ’‰

Dr Alishna Jeyaratnam, Resident Medical Officer explains on Cervical Cancer, its screening and prevention in conjunction with Cervical Cancer Awareness Month. The Pap Smear is an important screening tool in early diagnosis of this cancer. It's a quick, simple and relatively painless test and is recommended for all women from the ages of 21 to 65 years old.
