Is there any way at all, for preventing bone cancer? Dr G Satish Reddy, Head of Ortho-oncology, Aster Prime Hospital answers

No, because we don’t know the reason why bone cancers are happening. There Is still a lot of research going on on this. Twenty or thirty years back we didn’t even realize what was happening. Now, with many of the cancers, there is some indication that it could be a genetic mutation. As you know, gene therapies are still very nascent, in the laboratory stages.

We still don’t have many clinical applications right now. This is something we are still trying to understand. Until you find the reason why you cannot think of finding preventive mechanisms. I’m sure it will come up in the future but right now we’re still groping in the dark.
