পরিসংখ্যান বলছে, ভারতে দ্রুত ছড়িয়ে পড়ছে স্তন ক্যান্সার ( Breast Cancer )। একটা স্তরে, ভারতে প্রতি ২৮ জনে একজন করে মহিলা আক্রান্ত স্তন ক্যান্সারে। যদিও রোগের বাড়বৃদ্ধির সঙ্গে বাড়ছে চিকিত্সায় সাফল্যের হারও। কলকাতার এসএসকেএম হাসপাতাল এই বিষয়ে পথিকৃতের মতো কাজ করছে। সার্জিক্যাল অঙ্কলজিস্ট ডা. দীপ্তেন্দ্র সরকার জানালেন, স্তন ক্যানসার একটা নির্দিষ্ট পর্যায়ে ধরা পড়লে ৮০-৯০ শতাংশ মহিলা সুস্থ হয়ে বাড়ি ফিরছেন। তবে ঠিক সময়ে সতর্ক হতে হবে। কম বয়সে ক্যান্সারের বেশি ঝুঁকি ? নাকি বেশি বয়সে ? বায়পসি করলে কি ক্যান্সার বাড়ে? সব প্রশ্নের উত্তর দিলেন তিনি।
