This series of molecular tumor boards are presented by the Binaytara Foundation and moderated by Dr. Siddhartha Yadav. Dr. Yadav is an Oncologist at Mayo Clinic in Rochester, MN. This session on CLL features Dr. David Aboulafia from Virginia Mason in Seattle, WA, Dr. Chadi Nabhan from Precision Oncology Alliance in Chicago, IL, Dr. Arvind Chaudhry from Summit Cancer Centers in Spokane, WA, and Dr. Paul Hampel from Mayo Clinic in Rochester, MN.
This Series was created because genomic medicine has been advancing rapidly since the introduction of next-generation sequencing (NGS) technologies. Many commercial vendors as well as academic institutions have been offering extensive molecular testing for cancer care in a clinical setting. The variability among the currently available test options and complex results may be confusing to clinicians and pathologists. With no standards for these tests yet in place, expert review is required to make sense of the test for clinical purposes. This review increases the cost to the patient and slows down the process. Therefore, we see a need in educating those interested in how best to use these tests at hand for different types of cancer.
