John M. Carethers, MD, PhD, John G. Searle Professor and chair of the Department of Internal Medicine at the University of Michigan, presents a talk about how inflammation and DNA mismatch repair influence the outcome of patients with colorectal cancer. Dr. Carethers' research interests include familial cancer and polyposis syndromes, mechanisms of tumor progression, tumor genetics, tumor markers, DNA mismatch repair, molecular pathology, TGF-beta superfamily signaling in cancer progression, and colorectal cancer disparities. This lecture was part of the University of Wisconsin-Madison Department of Medicine Grand Rounds series. The title of his September 9, 2016 Grand Rounds talk is "Colorectal Cancer: The Role of Inflammation and DNA Mismatch Repair for Patient Outcome."
