How does chronic pancreatitis change over time? Does this disease advance quickly? An expert in digestive system diseases, Chris Forsmark, MD, of the University of Florida, describes what patients and caregivers should know about chronic pancreatitis, including possible ways to slow and prevent more damage to the pancreas. He describes the need for regular care, what to do if you have other health conditions, and the most important habit to quit when you have chronic pancreatitis.

Logan (8) has been suffering from hereditary pancreatitis since he was 4 years old. His mother Erica Williams talks about how the chronic disease affects them as a family, how Logan's severe pain leaves them helpless, and how much they hope for a cure.
Although Logan has access to one of the best children's hospitals, chronic pancreatitis is a progressive disease without any treatment. In this video from summer 2020, his family shares that they are hopeful that a cure for hereditary chronic pancreatitis is out there. We are working on turning their hope into a reality.
Mission: Cure is committed to cure chronic and recurrent acute pancreatitis using impact investing and innovative financing. Our webinars educate patients, families and clinicians about pancreatitis.

Although Rhiannon's father had chronic pancreatitis, doctors were unaware that hereditary pancreatitis can be passed down through genetics and kept reassuring that her that she will not suffer from pancreatitis. Genetic testing gave her the answers she so badly needed - she has chronic hereditary pancreatitis. She talks about the effect this disease had on her and her family, how doctors failed to connect it to her symptoms and how genetic testing finally proved that she inherited both a cystic fibrosis and a SPINK1 gene.
Rhiannon's father never knew that his pancreatitis was genetic. Although research and testing developed, chronic pancreatitis is still a poorly understood disease without any cure. We are working to change that by finding a cure - so that patients like Rhiannon can live longer and healthier lives.
