Processing of Amyloid Precursor Protein (APP)

APP can be processed either by the non-amyloidogenic pathway or by the amyloidogenic pathway. Processing by the amyloidogenic pathway results in beta-amyloid fragments that could aggregrate into plaques, a pathological hallmark of Alzheimer's disease.
