When most people hear this - they are shocked! ๐ง
When you think of a smoothie, you think about adding in healthy greens or fruit. ๐ฅฌ All packed into one cup. What could possibly be wrong with this? ๐ค
Let me tell you! โก๏ธโก๏ธ
The typical smoothie is completely unbalanced when it comes to macronutrients.
โ
Nearly all carbohydrates.
โHardly any protein.
This is an issue because the overwhelming majority of cancer survivors ARE NOT eating enough protein.
๐ฅฏCarbohydrates are all around us - bagels, toast, berries
๐But protein - that takes more effort to get your levels up.
Even if you are adding in yogurt or protein powder to your smoothie, chances are - itโs still really high in carbs.
The other issue is - Weight gain!
We can consume a lot more calories if we drink them. ๐ฅคSo unless you are struggling with weight loss, I want you to eat your food (donโt drink it).
We often see โhealthyโ trends invade the cancer space but they just arenโt right for cancer survivors. Thereโs nothing wrong or bad about smoothies. Itโs just not as โhealthyโ as you might think.
