Nasal obstruction is a very common complaint for many individuals presenting to a doctor’s office. Such patients often find themselves mouth-breathing. Normally, the nasal passages should be widely patent allowing for easy nasal airflow. Although there are many different reasons for nasal obstruction whether due to allergies or a deviated septum, large inferior turbinates or turbinate hypertrophy is a very common cause of nasal blockage. Turbinate hypertrophy can vary in severity leading to partial or even complete nasal obstruction if they become very enlarged.
