Julie R. Libon, a myeloproliferative neoplasm (MPN) survivor and advocate, discusses how people can support their loved ones going through this cancer journey. In particular, family and friends should not “coddle” patients with MPNs because “having the disease is frustrating enough,” she said.

In August 2014, Libon’s life changed forever when was diagnosed with myelofibrosis. Through her battle with cancer, she has found her personal mission: finding a cure. She and her sister founded Hike MF, which is an annual hiking event that raises funds for MPN research.
