Global Brain Tumor Program at St. Louis Children’s Hospital

In September 2020, Polish 18-year-old Julia was diagnosed with a malignant brain tumor.

Julia reached out to Washington University School of Medicine physician Mohamed Shebl Abdelbaki, MD – Director of Pediatric Neuro-Oncology at St. Louis Children’s Hospital – to seek his help regarding receiving therapy in the United States for her metastatic malignant brain tumor.

After meeting Julia and her family over Zoom, Dr. Abdelbaki helped them understand the different treatment options that are available for Julia in Poland, Europe and the United States. Julia decided to go through therapy at St. Louis Children's Hospital, which she tolerated really well and went back to Poland in June 2021.
