Yolk sac tumor represents approximately 20% of all ovarian primitive germ cell neoplasms. It usually occurs as a pure form or rarely as a component of a mixed germ cell tumor. It is usually associated with a favorable prognosis due to chemosensitivity, with complete cure in more than 80% of cases.
