Debunking myths about CT Scan

1. Causes hair loss and redness
Not true. This used to be true many years back and that too for the radiologists/ technicians who were exposed for long durations.

2. Can cause deaths from cancer
A single CT scan does not cause cancer. With technological advancement, radiation to the patient has been reduced up to 80%. More radiation is received in a morning sunbathing on the beach than in a CT scan.

3. Report is made by the machine
We’re going to be honest, most CT myths we can either laugh at or get behind, but this one we take very personally. A radiologist is who is responsible for interpreting the scan acquired by the CT machine.

4. Same as MRI
CT scans are significantly faster than MRI and they’re also more comfortable for patients than their MRI counterparts. MRI does not have radiation.

CT scans provide detailed information to diagnose, plan treatment for, and evaluate many conditions in adults and children. When used appropriately, the benefits of a CT scan far exceed the risks.

Think CT Scan. Think DN Imaging.
