J.G. Jones, comic book artist known for his work with D.C. and Marvel, discusses his journey with a myeloproliferative neoplasm (MPN).

MPNs are rare, chronic blood cancers and can be classified based on the presence or absence of the Philadelphia chromosome. There are three types of Philadelphia chromosome-negative MPNs:
Polycythemia vera (PV)
Essential thrombocythemia (ET)
Myelofibrosis (MF)

As Jones explains, he was diagnosed with PV in 2009 after he began to notice that he was too fatigued to meet deadlines for his work and got blood work done. This diagnosis - along with a good team of doctors - allowed him to get the right treatment and continue to work. Due to the varying nature of MPNs, it is important for each MPN patient to find the best treatment for them.
