Tanjina Kader, PhD, Peter MacCallum Cancer Centre, Melbourne, Australia, discusses a recent breakthrough in ductal carcinoma in situ (DCIS) implicating myoepithelial invasion as a prognostic marker for DCIS progression to invasive cancer. More research needs to be carried out to characterize this process, with a focus on the role of cellular communication with surrounding stromal and immune cells. This interview took place at the American Association for Cancer Research Annual Meeting in New Orleans, LA.
