Southern Gospel Legend Squire Parsons Dies at 77 | Squire Parsons Heart Attack | Cause of Death

Welcome back to FameFiles.
Today, we pause to remember and honor the life of a true Southern Gospel legend — Squire Parsons, who passed away on May 5th at the age of 77.

Born in West Virginia and raised in a home full of faith and music, Squire’s journey began with shaped-note singing taught by his father. He would go on to become one of the most beloved voices in Southern Gospel history.

With his deep baritone voice and heartfelt lyrics, Squire touched countless lives through songs like “Sweet Beulah Land,” “He Came To Me,” “Master Of The Sea,” and “The Greatest Of All Miracles.” These songs weren’t just melodies — they were messages of hope, redemption, and unwavering faith.

Squire began his career with the Calvarymen Quartet, later singing with The Kingsmen, and eventually pursuing a powerful solo ministry beginning in 1979. He was also ordained as a minister that same year at Trinity Baptist Church in Asheville, North Carolina.

Over his long career, Squire was honored by the Singing News Magazine, the Dove Awards, and was inducted into both the Southern Gospel Music Hall of Fame and the Gospel Music Association’s Hall of Fame.

Though he retired from touring in 2019, Squire’s music and ministry have continued to uplift hearts and souls. His legacy lives on in every note of “Sweet Beulah Land” and every song he left behind.
