Chairman of the Semmy Foundation, John Emmerik, sounds the gong for the 6th anniversary of the foundation together with ambassador of the foundation Prof. Dr. Gertjan Kaspers, head of pediatric oncology & -hematology at VU Medical Center and Mr. Harry van Dorrenmalen, Chairman IBM Europe & Country General Manager Netherlands.

Semmy Foundation has the mission to help children and families suffering from brainstem tumor (medical: DIPG), while raising awareness and money to finance research that will lead to a cure for this awful type of pediatric brain cancer. The chances of survival are close to zero with a life expectancy of 2 to 12 months after diagnosis. With this, brainstem tumor is the deadliest kind of cancer. In six years' time Semmy Foundation has raised € 1.582.666,26 and got a team together of about ten specialists, doing brainstem tumor research.
