Prof Terry Day - (Medical University of South Carolina, Charleston, USA) talks to ecancertv at IAOO 2015 about the benefits of robotic surgery in oropharyngeal cancer. He explains how it is quicker and less invasive than conventional surgery which had involved incisions to the lip or jaw and meant less tumour visibility.

He discusses the role of chemo and radiation therapy alongside surgery and ways to make diagnosis more precise in each patient to prevent people being under or over-treated.

He also touches upon causes and methods of prevention such as the HPV vaccine.

In addition to his role as Professor at the Medical University of South Carolina, Prof Day is also the president of the Head and Neck Cancer Alliance.
