Colorectal cancer is one of the most preventable cancers, yet one in three persons who are eligible don't undergo the recommended screening tests. Colon and rectal cancer are thought of as a disease of the elderly, however, the last 20 to 30 years, there's been a shift into patients that are younger than 50 years old. Given this change in trend, the American Cancer Society has recommended a decrease age of average risk screening to 45 years.
