In this video, we are honored to introduce three young warriors, Mr. Manoj, Mr. Asfaq, and Mr. Hanul, all within the age group of 22 to 28, who have been diagnosed with rectal cancer. Dr. Kishore Alapati, Consultant Colorectal Surgeon at Apollo Hospital, Jubilee Hills, Hyderabad shares their journey and emphasizes the importance of rectal cancer awareness.

All three young chaps successfully completed chemo and radiation therapy before surgery. Dr. Alapati assured them that they would not require a permanent colostomy bag, and instead provided them with a temporary bag. Mr. Asfaq, the oldest of them, has completed his surgery and chemotherapy requirement and is scheduled for a reversal of the ileostomy. Mr. Manoj has completed few doses of chemotherapy and is yet to complete a few more doses before scheduling for closure. Mr. Hanul, who finished surgery about ten days back, is in the earliest process of recovery.

Dr. Alapati reminds us that rectal cancer can be prevalent even in the younger generation. He urges anyone experiencing symptoms like bleeding, sudden change of bowel habits, or lack of improvement after seeking medical treatment to get a diagnosis to beat this disease and avoid an arduous recovery.

With Dr. Alapati’s expertise and the support of their families, these young warriors have fought hard and are still fighting. Their determination is an inspiration to all of us.
