My Anal Cancer Journey Part IV (Finding a Support System)

After some research I was discovered The HPV and Anal Cancer Foundation. They were wonderful and mailed me some information the provided me with a better understanding of what my cancer is. In addition, they connected me with a peer that called me and was very supportive and provided me with some tips to manage my pain through my treatments. The foundation also end me some "Kick Cancers Ass" and felt a little embarrassed about the word "anal" as they put their organization website on the bands. I found that I had issues with the word and soon realized that it was something I needed to accept because it is what is and people would not really get what the medical term for it was unless they researched anal cancer. Also, I want to bring awareness to the disease since it is so rare. Surprisingly, I have had an overwhelming amount of people requesting band and had to ask for a third batch. I feel very fortunate to have great support and my ability to humble myself to ask for help.
