Removal of PEG (feeding tube)! This is a type of feeding tube placed by an GI doctor through an endoscope in the operating room. It is usually done for patients who cannot eat for whatever reason (usually due to stroke, Dementia, being intubated, cancer, etc.). Sometimes they recover their ability to eat and maintain their nutrition so we can remove it in the office! The hole, or gastrocutaneous fistula, heals in its own fairly quickly. Usually within a couple of days.
