How are age-specific models of leukaemia revealing new treatment targets?
Many instances of childhood leukaemia, especially those in infants, are initiated before birth. The Childhood Leukaemia Research group aims to identify and characterise the cell-of-origin in which this leukaemia first arises. In so doing, faithful models of the disease are developed to better understand leukaemia initiation at different ages. By carrying out molecular studies using these models and patient samples, key disease drivers can be identified and explored as new targets for treatment.
