Anthony Moorman, PhD from Newcastle University, Newcastle, UK provides highlights from the the 2016 American Society of Hematology (ASH) Annual Meeting, held in San Diego, CA. Dr Moorman begins by summarizing the plenary session given by Prof. Martin Schrappe on a large, multi-center clinical trial based in Germany. Dr Moorman describes how this trial looked in to deintensifying chemotherapy for children with acute lymphoblastic leukemia (ALL) with the lowest risk of relapse. In addition, Dr Moorman talks about how this session highlighted key ways of carrying out inferiority trials going forward, including the how we identify low-risk disease for future studies.
