Von Hippel-Lindau syndrome (VHL) is a hereditary condition associated with hemangioblastomas (blood vessel tumors) of the brain, spinal cord, and eye.

He discusses his own mistake in diagnosing symptoms of dizziness in a 37-year-old woman who had VHL syndrome, 2 years of history of fluctuating left sided hearing loss, recent onset of intractable vertigo and left sided tinnitus, and who had also received a diagnosis of Meniere's disease.
