Adenocarcinoma is the cell type that forms the cancer. The entire gastrointestinal tract is filled with adenoid cells and the adenoid cells are mucin-producing cells which are just a kind of mucus which our gastrointestinal tract needs to transit food and things like that. It's the adenoid cells themselves that become abnormal and there's some degree of DNA damage that happens to the adenoid cell itself and turns that into an adenocarcinoma, which is a cancer of those cell types.
