hCG is a hormone that is produced by the placenta and normally is only measurable during pregnancy.

But Some abnormal tissues, tumors, and cancers, however, may also produce hCG,.... This makes the hCG test useful as a tumor marker.

Basically This test measures the amount of hCG in blood


Why Get Tested?

The test is done to....

help diagnose gestational trophoblastic disease or germ cell tumors


to evaluate the effectiveness of treatment for these conditions;

AND to monitor for recurrence


When To Get Tested?

U need this test When your symptoms suggest gestational trophoblastic disease or germ cell tumors


Results & Interpretation

Normal levels

Fo non pregnant women: less than 5 mIU/mL.

And for Healthy men: less than 2 mIU/mL.

When the test is used as a tumor marker, an elevated hCG level may mean Germ Cell Tumors or GTD
