I grew up in a non-vegetarian household. I realised the plight of the animals and decided to try a vegetarian diet, but it was hard when I was surrounded by people eating my favourite dishes. When I got married into a Jain family I decided I could revisit my desire to be a vegetarian. And it was easy. But I had a lot of health issues and I couldn't figure out the cause. Living with a disease that affects your body and self-image is hard, especially as a YouTuber. The doctors were misdiagnosing it as PCOD and I was frustrated because nothing was helping.
When a friend asked me to try a plant-based diet, I was ready to try anything that would help. And it did! I felt a difference within two weeks and was able to manage my symptoms much better. But one day in a freak accident I slipped and fractured my wrist.
The doctors told me my bone was shattered, which is not supposed to happen with a fracture. More tests were ordered and they found a tumour in my pituitary gland. I had to undergo surgery to remove it. This was when I decided that I needed to take control of my health and I also decided to study plant-based nutrition. As I was reading I came across documentaries that spoke about so many people transforming their health with a healthy plant-based diet. But there were also other things that caught my attention. I realised how animals are suffering for human greed. I decided that it only made sense to go vegan.
I choose only sustainable, cruelty-free products and don't buy anything that is tested on animals or has animal ingredients or is made from animal skin.
Since I was already a very vocal advocate for sustainable living, I was convinced I was on the right path after seeing the effects animal farming has on the environment.
I hope that more people choose this lifestyle for their own health, for the animals and for the environment.I grew up in a non-vegetarian household.
