Lichen Amyloidosis is a skin condition and not an infection it is characterized by deposition of amyloid under the skin. Generally in the upper layer of our dermis what is amyloid. Amyloid is nothing but a protein but it is a deranged protein. Generally it gets converted from collagen so when collagen the regular bundles of collagen become irregular or amorphous that's when you form amyloid. Therefore when you see amyloid it is brown in color unlike collagen which is skin colored amyloidosis is a condition which is also genetic. So many times it runs in the family because the trigger for amylodosis is generally chronic friction. Now you have to remember that we would clean our skin or when we would bathe especially in the yester years we would use scrubs or we would use a loofah or stones like a pumis stone or many of times a brush to use on our arms and legs especially thinking that if we use that the dirt and the dust gets removed. But this chronic friction is one of the major causes of leading to amyloidosis the skin because of chronic friction changes its pattern and forms this deposit called amyloid. Now what is amyloidosis and how do you see it? It is noticed as small brownish red mustard coloured seeds you know which are raised generally seen on the arms and the shin but at times you can also see it on the lower back and the buttocks. It is generally without any symptoms. But sometimes because it causes dryness in the local area it can lead to lot of itching and sometimes scratching which can lead to more dryness and more lesions of amyloid. One important thing you need to remember in amylodois is that we cannot reverse this process but we can keep the symptoms under control. The first thing is to reduce the itching and dryness by using a Moisturizer in amyloidosis moisturizer is the key to maintain the skin and prevent it from scratching . So use a moisturizer morning and night if you need to use it three times please most welcome please use it as many times as you need. The second is when you visit your dermatologist they will give you certain exfoliants to remove the superficial bumps that you notice with lichen amyloidosis ere we sometimes use steroids sometimes we use exfoliants like calcineurin Inhibitors like tacrolimus or pimicrolimus. We also sometimes use retinol and retinol derivatives like tretinoin so that there is good exfoliation of the skin which then with proper moisturization will give you some benefit from itching as well as reduce the bumps. But Lichen amyloidosis can extend even to other tissues of our body it can also get deposited into other tissues and other organs of our body. Therefore going to a dermatologist getting yourself completely investigated is very essential with this condition although the treatment is very symptomatic and you never get a complete resolution. It is worth meeting your doctor and getting some symptomatic treatment for your lichen amylodosis. CÁNCER DE CUELLO UTERINO (ÁREA MUJER)
En este vídeo os vamos a explicar de qué se trata el cáncer de cuello de útero en rasgos generales. Si tienes o has tenido un cáncer de cuello de útero, te recomendamos que consultes con tu médico cualquier duda que tengas sobre tu proceso personal, ya que él es quien conoce mejor tu caso, y podrá ayudarte mejor, con información más precisa.

¿QUÉ ES EL CÁNCER DE CUELLO DE ÚTERO?
El cáncer de cuello de útero se produce cuando las células normales del cuello del útero se transforman en células anormales y crecen sin control.

¿POR QUÉ SE PRODUCE?
El 99% de los casos son causados por la infección persistente del virus del papiloma humano (VPH). La infección por VPH es muy común, y la mayoría de las personas sexualmente activas entran en contacto con el virus durante su vida. Sin embargo, en la mayoría, el virus no causa daño y se elimina del cuerpo sin tratamiento.

¿QUÉ ASPECTOS AUMENTAN EL RIESGO?
Aspectos como la inmunosupresión (VIH) o el tabaco, facilitan que la infección por VPH permanezca en el organismo por más tiempo. Haber padecido un cáncer de vagina, vulva, riñón o tracto urinario previamente, también puede influir.

¿ES FRECUENTE EL CÁNCER DE CÉRVIX?
El cáncer de cuello uterino afecta principalmente a las mujeres más jóvenes. Más de la mitad de los casos se dan en menores de 45 años.

¿EXISTEN DISTINTOS TIPOS?
Dependiendo del tipo de células que se afecten, los más frecuentes son:
- Tumor escamoso, es el más común (70-80%).
- Tumor glandular (adenocarcinoma): es el 20-25% de los casos.

SE PUEDE CLASIFICAR SEGÚN EL GRADO DE AVANCE DE LA ENFERMEDAD EN:
1. Neoplasia intraepitelial cervical (CIN): NO es cáncer.
2. Cáncer de cuello de útero en estadio temprano.
3. Cáncer de cuello de útero localmente avanzado.
4. Cáncer de cuello de útero metastásico.

¿QUÉ SÍNTOMAS PRODUCE?
En las etapas más tempranas, no suele presentar síntomas. Cuando la enfermedad está más avanzada, se pueden presentar:
- Sangrado vaginal
- Dolor pélvico.
- Secreción vaginal.
- Dolor o incomodidad durante el sexo.
**Es importante recordar que estos síntomas SON COMUNES en personas que NO TIENEN CÁNCER de cuello uterino, pueden estar causadas por otras razones.

¿CÓMO SE DIAGNOSTICA?
El diagnóstico se basta en los resultados de los siguientes exámenes y pruebas:
- Examen ginecológico.
- Colposcopia.
- Conización.

¿QUÉ ES LA ESTADIFICACIÓN DEL CÁNER?
La estadificación del cáncer es una manera que tenemos los médicos para clasificar en qué estado se encuentra la enfermedad en el momento del diagnóstico: si se encuentra localizada, o si se ha extendido más allá del cuello del útero y hasta dónde.

¿CÓMO SE TRATA?
El tratamiento adecuado va a depender mucho del estadio del cáncer en el momento del diagnóstico, el tamaño y la localización. El tratamiento también va a depender de la edad, si presentas otras patologías médicas o si en el futuro tienes deseos de quedarte embarazada.

¿QUÉ PASA SI ME QUIERO QUEDAR EMBARAZADA EN EL FUTURO?
En algunos casos seleccionados (y siempre en estadios iniciales) , es posible realizar un tratamiento quirúrgico con preservación de la fertilidad.

¿SE PUEDE PREVENIR?
La respuesta es si. Siguiendo el programa de cribado de patología cervical según la edad en la que estés, y vacunándote del VPH.

¿QUÉ MÁS PODRÍA HACER?
Es importante seguir todas las instrucciones de tu médico a cerca de las consultas y las pruebas, así como consultar con él TODAS LAS DUDAS que tengas antes de comenzar el tratamiento, y durante el tratamiento, comunicar cualquier efecto secundario o problema que tengas durante el tratamiento.
