W. Marston Linehan, M.D., investigates kidney cancer gene pathways to find new treatment strategies. In this video, he discusses hereditary leiomyomatosis and renal cell cancer (HLRCC) with Eric, a patient participating in research at the NIH Clinical Center. Dr. Linehan is Chief of the Urologic Oncology Branch in the Center for Cancer Research (CCR) at the National Cancer Institute (NCI).
In today's #KidneyCANDID, Dr. Brandon Manley from the Moffitt Cancer Center in Tampa, Florida, discusses hereditary renal cancers. The most common is von Hippel-Lindau syndrome, though it is not the only hereditary #kidneycancer. Dr. Manley offers advice for understanding the diagnosis, finding support in patient groups, and connecting with genetic specialists to understand the impact of your diagnosis on family members.
