After my initial lumpectomy surgery, I was diagnosed with stage 3 breast cancer back in December of 2021. Since then we have gone through a full round of IVF to preserve our fertility and 5 months of chemotherapy. In this episode we share everything from 6 weeks post chemo to making the difficult decision regarding which surgery to have (mastectomy or lumpectomy) to the recovery process and finally the pathology results of surgery.

Genetic counselor Joyce Turner, MSC, CGC, provides an overview of BRCA genes and their relationship to breast and ovarian cancer. She explains how each of us inherits BRCA genes from our parents, the role of those genes and what happens if we inherit a gene mutation. She also talks about how genetic counseling and testing can give a woman information she can use to make decisions about her health.

Shannen Doherty has always been transparent about the struggles she has faced. Now, the actress has revealed a new struggle that she's kept out of the public eye.
"It's going to come out in a matter of days or a week that -- I'm stage four. So my cancer came back. And that's why I'm here," Doherty told ABC News' Amy Robach in an interview that aired Tuesday on "Good Morning America." "I don't think I've processed it. It's a bitter pill to swallow in a lot of ways."
In the interview, the 48-year-old opened up about her breast cancer’s recurrence and how she coping with it.
