Woman to Undergo Second Drastic Surgery to Prevent Cancer
Emily removed her stomach at 21 after finding out she has the CDH1 gene mutation. That mutation also puts her at high risk for lobular breast cancer, which is very hard to detect. Emily has decided to undergo a double mastectomy in order to reduce her risk of breast cancer. Breast specialist Dr. Kristi Funk shares that she applauds Emilyโs choice since she has up to a 52% chance of getting breast cancer.
