The early signs of colon cancer , if it is a little deeper colon cancer, if it is the ascending colon, it is a little difficult to detect because it talks a little longer for them to have symptoms. So in general any change in bowel habits. A person who was passing regularly motion, starts developing change in in his bowel habits. not able to pass motion or have a lot of loose motion or lose motions with mucus discharge, blood stained motions, mixed with blood, or abdominal pain with lose motion. So any of the combination symptoms related to passing of stools. Any sudden changes especially in those who have crossed 40 years are one of the earliest symptoms. So it can be change in bowel habits, it can be alternate lose motions and constipation, it can be pain in the lower abdomen or difficulty in evacuating the bowel, or it can be bleeding, wither frank bleeding or blood missed with stools, these are the earliest stages of colon cancer. Other thing is there are certain diseases which predispose to colon cancer, like familial polyposis, there are some familial conditions that can predispose to colon cancer. So those with family history of colon cancer , even before they develop symptoms it is better to get a colonoscopy done. So that is one more way of arriving at the early diagnosis for the exclusion of the cancer.
