Unicorn Squad 2021: Fundraising for the DTRF!

On February 15, 2018, I found out that the mass in my right chest wall near my collarbone was a tumor. I received a diagnosis of desmoid-type fibromatosis and went right to google to find out more about what that meant.
Flash forward a few months, and I could write a book on them! Here are some fast facts:
- The World Health Organization defines Desmoid Tumors as "an intermediate grade, non-metastasizing soft tissue sarcoma."
- Desmoid tumors do not metastasize in the way that other cancers do; however, they can be locally aggressive and have a high rate of recurrence. For these reasons, it is treated just like cancer.
- In the United States, only 900 cases a year are diagnosed - which I think makes me a unicorn!
- Desmoids have an extremely high rate of recurrence, about 30% just in the first five years, so I'm gearing up not just to fight this now, but likely several times again over the course of my lifetime.
Please help me support The Desmoid Tumor Research Foundation, the only foundation in the world dedicated to the research and treatment of this rare disease. Every penny will go towards research and a cure for this beast of a disease!
