Katlynn Treff was in college when she started feeling tired all the time. Scans revealed she had a tumor on her pituitary gland. On the advice of a relative, Katlynn came to Nebraska Medicine from her home in Kansas for treatment. Historically difficult to reach because of the pituitary gland's proximity to the brain, rhinologist Christie Barnes, MD, used an endoscope to go through Katlynn's nose to the site of the tumor on the pituitary gland. That's when neurosurgeon Bill Thorell, MD, steps in to remove the tumor.

Today, Katlynn is back in college and doing well, thanks to the surgery performed here at Nebraska Medicine.
