Osteosarcoma | Jordon's Story | Stand Up To Cancer
Jordon found out that she had Osteosarcoma, a type of bone cancer, which they found after finishing her first year at college in New York.
Osteosarcoma is the most common type of bone cancer. The cancer cells in these tumors look like early forms of bone cells that normally help make new bone tissue, but these cells aren't as strong as bone cells.
Jordon went through chemotherapy and was on IV fluid for two weeks. Even after getting the all clear, the cancer returned and Jordon had to undergo surgery to have her leg amputated, having rotationplasty. Rotationplasty is a common type of surgery where a part of a limb is removed, while the remaining limb below is rotated and reattached.
