In the prime of my life, I thought life was over. I had no real support resources to turn to, all due to my age and lack of funding provided for programs for young adults diagnosed with cancer. I had no family history and was “too young to have cancer!” I had to learn how to navigate this new normal alone. This gross misconception results in too many cancer cases being caught late, and a massive lack of funding, research and support for the unique issues that young adults with cancer face such as dating, parenting, and being unable to work for years at a time during prime earning years. Cancer for young adults is vastly different than for other demographics.

@yacancercanada is a leading Canadian cancer charity focused on delivering support programs for young adults aged 15-39. Now, young folks dealing with cancer have a home and resources to help them get through this challenging time, that are tailored to their age demographic.

Introducing Primetown!! A virtual summit dedicated to connecting young adults affected by cancer and those who care for them. Put on by @yacancercanada in partnership with CancerCare Manitoba and their foundation, the #Primetown2021 summit will empower this community through inspiring keynotes, informative and introspective workshops, and will challenge each participant to grow as they learn with and from each other

As a 3x breast cancer survivor, I know how important support, education, and empowerment can be in one’s healing process; physically and emotionally, not only during treatment but for the rest of our lives.
